Position: Volunteer Treasurer (Board Member)
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and skilled individual to join our Board of Directors as Treasurer. This is an unpaid, volunteer position requiring a 3 year commitment to our mission and a drive to make a meaningful impact for veterans.
Role Overview
The Treasurer will oversee the financial health of MO Vets Outdoors, Inc., ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainability. As a key member of the Board, you will provide strategic financial guidance, collaborate with fellow board members, and champion our mission to support veterans through outdoor experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial records, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Oversee compliance with 501(c)(3) regulations and financial best practices.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the Board and stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor financial policies to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Collaborate with the Board to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Assist in fundraising efforts and grant applications to support programs.
- Ensure accurate tracking of donations, grants, and expenditures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Financial expertise (e.g., accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management experience).
- Proficiency with financial software/tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel).
- Strong understanding of non-profit financial regulations and compliance.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
- Experience or willingness to learn about fundraising and grant management.
Expectations
- Commit to 5-10 hours per month, including board meetings and financial oversight tasks.
- Actively participate in strategic planning and board discussions.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of integrity.
- Attend occasional events or programs to connect with our veteran community.
- Serve a minimum 2-year term, with potential for renewal.
